Good, reliable, family owned/run Chinese restaurant. I had the Hunan chicken for lunch. My associate had the tofu. We both liked our dishes.
The service was outstanding! It was provided by the 10 year old daughter of the cook, who is herself the daughter of the owners. The 10 year old was extraordinarily well mannered and very attentive to us. I complimented the mother on this, saying her daughter was well trained, and she said she just started 2 weeks ago! Unbelievable.
With the food and the service, I'd definitely go back were I to visit Upper Sandusky again.
Very friendly staff, clean but temperature in restaurant was cold. Food was good, vegetables crisp but chicken was "strange", would order vegetarian next time.
Came across them while trying to find a different restaurant. We were welcomed as soon as we entered. Not a big place but very clean with nice decor. Big menu with lots of different choices. Something for everyone. If I find myself in Upper Sandusky again, I would definitely come back here.
This old KFC location has all the stereotypical red paper décor and has seating for about 50 people. It's a mom and pop place with the husband cooking and the wife doing the serving.
I ordered the China Garden Special and hot and sour soup. Soup was very pretty good but way too thick but with a pronounced white pepper flavor. The Special? Chicken, Beef and large Shrimp stir-fried with carrots, chinese pea pods, bamboo, water chestnuts, mushrooms, bok choy, celery, broccoli and onion. Brown Sauce (got it medium spicy). It was pretty good!
No complaints here at all, great food and speedy service. Owner was very friendly and chatty, made sure I was happy with everything. My only gripe is that she dropped off the check and then got tied up on a phone conversation so I had to get up to pay my bill. A minor irritation...
The options are limited for Chinese in this town, but it's a good bet you'll be fine with them. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant if you're in the area.
Hot and sour soup is so amazing, as well as the egg drop soup. Both soups are nice and thick. The moo goo gai pan is nicely made with an abundance of fresh veggies and a tasty sauce. Egg rolls seem to be getting smaller and smaller, because 5 years ago they were STUFFED and now they are itty bitty. Hot tea is a perfect blend of spices.
